Mary McGuigan Motl

Mary McGuigan Motl, age 96 of Stratford, devoted wife of the late Emil R. Motl, passed away peacefully in her home on August 25, 2012 while in the presence of her loving family.
She will be remembered by her children, Mary Ann Pilon and her husband Philip of Simsbury, Carol Allen and her husband Peter of Milford, W. James Motl and his wife MaryBeth of Monroe, Christine Lisi and her husband Phil of Stratford, and Richard Motl and his wife Suzanne of Tampa, FL.

She was predeceased by her son Jon David Motl.
Remembered too in their hearts by 15 grandchildren, Christopher Pilon (Vicky), Matthew Pilon (Priscilla), Andrea O’Brien (Dan), Mark Pilon (Kateri), Kate Hawkins(John), Jon Pilon (Heike), Richard Allen, Kristen Allen, Jennifer Orr (Trent), Jon Motl, Emily Bonsignore (Jason), Michele Lisi (Mike), Lauren Lisi (Jay), Kathleen Meeker (Rich), Erin Motl and 17 great grandchildren, especially her loving card playing buddy, Jeffrey.
Mary is survived by her brother, Joseph McGuigan. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Anna (Kallberg) McGuigan and siblings Sebastian McGuigan, Irene Neeley, Madeline Leffer, and William McGuigan.
Born in NYC, NY, Mary moved to Monticello, NY where she lived until moving to Bridgeport, CT in 1941 after the birth of her third child where she continued to raise her family.
Mary worked for many years for Henry C. Reid and Sons Jewelers.
A devout Catholic and faithful supporter of her parishes St. Charles and then Holy Name of Jesus after her move to Stratford in 1984. She remained active as a member of Catholic Daughters until her death.
She embraced every opportunity to be with her growing and extended family, sharing her baking skills with each generation - her pistachio cake and vanochka will live on! She was content with what God had given her, her humility, love and caring will be remembered by all. Her family will also remember her love of music and dancing.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 29 from 4 to 8pm in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The Motl Family would like to thank the VITAS Hospice program of Stratford for their wonderful care and support. The family recognizes the devotion and loving care of her daughter Christine.
