Smith praises Maroney’s efforts on Founders Walk

To the Editor:

Downtown Milford will be a better place because of James Maroney.

As the vice chairman of the Milford 375th Committee I saw firsthand how hard James Maroney worked to get the Founders Walk project off the ground and moving forward.  This will be the signature project for Milford's 375th Anniversary.

Honoring Milford's history and veterans and beautifying the area around the Memorial Bridge is something that has been talked about for a number of years but James is getting it done. James is the chairman of the Founders Walk Committee that has met several times already and has chosen one of New England's best landscape architects for the project. The design and public input process will be kicking off in the next few weeks and it looks like we will be breaking ground in the spring for this great addition to our wonderful community.

As a freshman state representative James has worked very hard for Milford, he understands that a vibrant downtown can be the best economic development vehicle for job growth and business expansion.

His work with  Mayor Blake, Senator Slossberg, Representatives Rose and Davis may help finally address the parking challenges we all face when trying to shop and patronize the great restaurants downtown.

He has worked so hard and accomplished so much in his first term I can only imagine what he can do for all of us in his next term.

Milford needs State Representative James Maroney in the 119th District working hard for all of us.
