Maroney described as ‘voice’ for local students
To the Editor:
James Maroney has been a passionate voice for Milford and Orange students throughout the last decade. Between his legislative accomplishments and local community advocacy there are no words to fully describe his commitment to our community.
I’ve come to know James through the Devon Rotary Club, where he served as scholarship chair. During his time as chairman, James was responsible for reviewing grant applications and awarding over $200,000 in grants to students matriculating in college or graduating from Platt Technical Vocational High School.
In addition to awarding grants, James presents “Service Above Self” awards to students at our local high schools twice a year. The recipients exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self,” and each is honored at a Rotary meeting and presented with an educational stipend.
