Literacy advocate thanks leapers
To the Editor:
Thank you, thank you, to all you leapers, those who made pledges and sponsors from the four corners of Milford and beyond. The Literacy Center of Milford's 8th Annual Leprechaun Leap was another huge success. The generosity and cooperation from the many groups and individuals as well as city agencies and “behind the scene” folks, is responsible for the overwhelming success of this event.
The large turnout and enthusiasm of the spectators added to the spirit of the occasion as the leapers stood on the beach while waiting for the signal to jump in, immersing themselves in ice cold water.
The get-together later on at Stonebridge for the awarding of trophies was hosted by Rich and Lynn Conine and a grand time it was. Pictures were shared, stories were told and winners and non-winners alike were applauded.
The center knew in January that some significant money had to be raised early on if we were to maintain the quality of our services and look forward to some growth. Non-profits are finding it increasingly difficult to raise money and we all work hard to help that bottom line.
As so many have indicated a desire to be involved, the center is already making plans for next year.
See you next winter!
