To the Editor: Exceptional crowd . . . great costumes . . . fantastic weather . . . best ever! On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and especially the clients at the Beth-El Center, I would like to thank all who participated in the Trick or Trot 5K Run/Walk that was held on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Milford. Funds raised will assist us in to continue the progress that has been made throughout the region and the state in ending chronic homelessness and to continue to provide needed outreach and food services in the greater Milford area. Our very deepest appreciation to the major event sponsors and organizers: the law firm of Harlow, Adams & Friedman, P.C. and Sikorsky Financial Credit Union, with particular thanks to the event committee, comprised of Dana Friedman, Joe Kubic, Jim Winkel, John Massih, Heidi Allen, Kim Balocca, Emily Degnan, Carmen Tortora, and Maria Bravo-they all collectively did another outstanding job this year in planning and organizing the event. We deeply appreciate all of the volunteers who helped with registration, monitoring the course, and any other tasks that needed to be done — couldn’t have done it without you. Marty Schaivone, M.S. Running Productions, always offers professional guidance and organizes a run/walk that provides opportunities for all who wish to participate, while arranging for another beautiful route, insuring public safety and offering an enjoyable experience for all. We also appreciate the generosity of Heidi Voight, NBC CT, who was the emcee for the event for her time and creative talents in costuming . . . Captain Kidd was a big hit. A special hit this year was the mobile food truck from Chip’s Restaurants that provided the most delicious pancakes to the crowd. Thank you for your generous contribution — many wonderful compliments were given. Our most sincere appreciation to the event sponsors: Sandy and George Adams III; Brenton Point Wealth Advisors; Barrett Outdoor Communications; Duchess Restaurants, Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, Maplewood at Orange; Arnold Peck’s Property World; Napoli Nissan; R.M. Skinner Enterprises; Kiwanis Club of New Haven; Milford Rotary Club; James P. Also, to all of the walkers and runners from our faith communities who founded us and continue to provide us with support, thank you. Our gratitude also to those who donated food and professional services: Rainbow Gardens, Subway, Scratch Bakery, Shop-Rite, Chabaso Bakery and the Regional Water Authority and Hacienda Storage. Cheers and thanks also to The Elwoods who always donate their talents and who provide an extra dose of fun with their music. Again, thanks to all who participated in the run and walk for your support of the Beth-El Center in our efforts to bring about an end to homelessness and hunger in the greater Milford community.
