Brown disappointed but proud of his campaign

To the Editor:

When I started this journey a year ago, I had no idea where it would lead me. Over the past 12 months, thanks to the help of my family, friends and supporters, I've had the time of my life. Running for office forces you to learn a lot of things in a short amount of time.

I am proud to have run a principled, conservative campaign. I did not receive money from special interests, and I remain beholden only to my own values. When I started this campaign, I vowed to keep it about the issues, not petty, partisan attacks. We stuck with my desire to end the era of bitter, divisive politics.

While I am disappointed with the results, I accept the will of the voters. Over the past five months, I've spoken with hundreds of people who are not happy with the direction of our country. I hope my opponent spends her 13th term truly listening to the people.

James Brown
