William “Bill” Tomis

William “Bill” Tomis, 88, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Irene Sutay Tomis passed away peacefully on November 20, 2012 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born on February 23, 1924 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Bartholomew and Veronica Stach Tomish.

Bill worked as a manufacturer representative for heating and plumbing supply houses for many years.

Bill was an active member of the Seniors of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, a Trustee of Sts. Cyril and Methodius for 40 years, and he led various scout groups including cub scouts and boy scouts and was Scout Master of Troop #54. Bill also was an active member of the Stratford Baldwin Center, a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Men’s Club and a member of St. Joseph’s Jednota branch #19 Society and Slovak Alliance.

Bill lived his life according to God’s will and helping anyone in need.

Bill is survived by one daughter Kathleen Kalanick and her husband Michael of Stratford, two grandchildren Michael Kalanick and Julie Osowski and husband Mark, one newly born great granddaughter Mary Catherine Osowski, one brother Frank Tomis of Oxford, one sister Mary Sirotnik of Milford and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife Irene of 58 years, he is also predeceased by three brothers Stephen, Msgr. John and Albert Tomis and one sister Anna Stec.

Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford, handled arrangements. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
