Vincent Anthony Gloria

Vincent Anthony Gloria, age 76, died on November 24, 2012, in Milford. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Volosin) Gloria.

He was born in Milford June 25, 1936 to the late Anthony Sr. and Grace (Marino) Gloria.

He graduated Milford High School where he was Captain of the football team in 1954 and All-State player. He also attended the University of Bridgeport.

Vincent was a former owner of Gloria’s Garden Center in Milford with his family. He was the proud owner of Vinny’s Home and Garden Showplace in Wallingford with a previous location in East Hartford.

A Milford citizen all his life, he was a long-time member and very involved in several Milford Associations: Columbus Scholarship Committee, Kiwanis Club, Elks Club, and the Milford High School reunion committee.

He loved spending time with his family and helping others. He owned and raced thoroughbred horses, enjoyed traveling with the Italy Group, found contentment in gardening and trips to Foxwoods Casino, and enjoyed watching horse racing and westerns on TV.

Besides his wife of 11 years, he is survived by his children; Gina (Stephen) Micelotta of Enfield, Lisa (Richard) Farricielli of Milford, Dawn (Michael) Fanara of Milford, and Dana (Carmen) Salvo of Boca Raton, FL, his brother Louis (Margaret) Gloria of Orange, his cousin James (Dorothy) Marino, as well as his grandchildren: Casey, Vinny, Jesse, Michael and Melissa; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brothers Anthony Gloria and Joseph Gloria.

Calling hours are 4 to 8pm, November 29, 2012 at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 30, 2012, at 11:00 am, Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd., Milford. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Milford.
