William Stanislawski, Sr., age 80, resident of Milford and beloved husband to the late Carol Brackett Stanislawski, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 26, 2014.

Born in Derby, CT on May 31, 1933, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Bertha Kros Stanislawski.

A proud veteran, he served with honor in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill began his employment as a mechanic with US Motors and worked his way up to foreman until their closure and went to Armstrong Rubber as a foreman, but left the company when they moved out of CT, as Bill chose to stay because he could not bear the thought of leaving his family. He retired from CHR-CT Hard Rubber as a general foreman. Known for his work ethic and dedication, he never missed a day of work and instilled the same loyalty and ethic in his children.

A skilled handyman, Bill was able to do any kind of project, including woodworking and was mechanically inclined as well. He included his children in tasks teaching them that “Nothing is impossible and there is nothing you can’t do if you put your mind to it. In his spare time, he enjoyed nature, animals, bird watching and gardening.

He is survived by his son, William E. Stanislawski, Jr and his wife Martha (Bean); daughter, Terri J. Waldron of Milford; cherished grandchildren, Andrew Stanislawski, Brian Stanislawski and his wife Ann (Higgins), Merritt Waldron III and Stefanie Waldron, Douglas Grabowski, Jr and his wife Lori (Del Buono) and Jason Grabowski and his wife Catrina (Demmons); great grandchildren Douglas III ,Jayce Gregory and Thomas. He is also survived by his brothers, Edward and his wife Rose, Joseph and his wife Barbara; his brother Steve, sister Pat Jacques and her husband Frank all of Milford; his special friend and companion Caroline Stellato of West Haven and her family and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his daughter and son-in-law, Charon and Doug Grabowski Sr., and his brother Peter.

Friends and family may call on Monday, June 2nd from 10 am to 12 pm with a Prayer Service at 12 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
