Obituary: Virginia (Wamsley) Argeropoulos, age 87, of Milford

Virginia (Wamsley) Argeropoulos, age 87, of Milford, CT and Olmstedville, NY, passed away on October 25, 2016. She was the wife of the late George Argeropoulos.

Born on October 20, 1929 in Olmstedville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Alice (Robinson) Wamsley.

Virginia was employed by Bridgeport Hospital for 35 years, where she was the director of the LPN student program.

She loved to travel, venturing all over the world. Often, Virginia’s travels would take her to areas where she volunteered to make the lives of others better. A very special trip for Virginia was the one she made to Africa to visit her niece and her family. For many years, she volunteered at the soup kitchen in Milford.

Virginia had a tremendous love of dogs, forming an immediate bond with any who came her way, leaving her face lit with joy.

She is predeceased by her parents, a half-sister, Lucille Jennings (Ed), brothers, William Wamsley (Corinne) and Howard Jewell Wamsley, nephews, James Wamsley and David Wamsley.

She is survived by her nieces, Priscilla Killon (Jack) and Patricia Langford (David), her great nieces and nephews, Billy Jack Killon (Jill), James Killon (Lori), Carmin Wamsley, Crystal Smith (Scott), Scott Wamsley (Jennifer), Daniel Langford and Paul Langford, a great-great niece and four great-great nephews, cousins, her niece-in-law, Susan Curran (Kevin), nephews-in-law, David Pettigrew (Gin), Eric Pettigrew, and Christopher Pettigrew, great nephew- and niece-in-law, Ian Pettigrew and Lydia Pettigrew, and many special friends including Jean Etter and Diane Demitriades.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11 AM at the First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main St., Milford, CT. A second memorial service will be held in her beloved Adirondacks in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
