Obituary: Sandra "Sandy" MacDonald, 60, of Milford
Sandra "Sandy" MacDonald, 60, died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 in Milford.
Born March 28, 1955, daughter of the late Theresa and Gerald MacDonald of Bridgeport.
A loving sister, active grandmother and, above all else, a devoted mother, Sandra is survived by her son, David (Marissa) Miklus, of Macungie, Pa.; two daughters, Jill Miklus of Reston, Va. and Rebecca Miklus (Nick DeCesare and daughter Mia) of Shelton; two sisters, Janice (Frank) Delaney of Enfield and Laury (Leonard) DiMarco; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Always a hardworking, lifelong Connecticut resident, Sandra had spent the brink of her golden years calming her strong spirit near sun and sand by her Woodmont beach home. It is here, by the crashing waves and basking sun, where she found the most peace, and would often be found getting “trapped” in the “sticky mud” by her grandchildren, whom she fondly called her “lil’ monkeys.” If she was not enjoying the water, friends and family could find her on land tending to her abundant flower and vegetable gardens; passionately volunteering for dog rescue organizations; sitting quietly on her wraparound porch with her devoted Labrador retrievers, Buzzy and Buck, a warm cup of tea and a good book; or planning her annual, fun-filled Fourth of July picnic, down to her trademark, homemade kettle corn.
Sandra’s quick-witted humor, engaging personality, and amazing heart made her loved by friends, family, co-workers and neighbors alike. Also, Sandra cherished family ties, always warmly welcoming new members to our growing family while also setting high expectations for her children and grandchildren – all of whose achievements she proudly bragged about whenever she got a chance. Yet she also expected a lot of herself, having continued her education a few years ago whereupon she became a medical assistant at County OB/GYN in Branford.
Also predeceased by her brother, David MacDonald.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating our beautiful matriarch’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford. Interment will follow in King’s Highway Cemetery, Milford, CT. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 5-8 p.m., at Cody-White Funeral Home in Milford. Flowers are welcome.
