Obituary: Robert Henry Slavin, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Milford

Robert Henry Slavin, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Milford, husband of Eleanor Galaty Slavin, died Oct. 21, after a short illness.

Born on May 30, 1931, in New Haven, son of the late John Edward and Lillian Gariepy Slavin; U.S. Army, Korean War, deputy sheriff of New Haven County, elementary school teacher in Waltersville and Franklin Schools in Bridgeport, president of the New Haven County Sheriffs’ Association, constable for the city of Milford, member of the Milford DTC, Milford Elks, National AMVETS, and the Milford Lions Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia Slavin of Orlando, Fla., Pamela Ward (Thomas) and Jacqueline Williams (David) of Milford, five grandsons, two stepsons, Patrick Donlan of Guilford and Brian Donlan of Long Island, N.Y., five step-grandsons, his cousin, mother-in-law, Florence Galaty, brother-in-law, John Galaty (Judie) of Trumbull, and several nieces and nephews.

Also predeceased by his brother, John Edward Slavin and his sister, Mildred Slavin, and his father-in-law, John Galaty.

Services: Thursday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m., Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Milford. Calling hours: Wednesday, Oct. 26, 4-7, funeral home.
