Robert (Bob) Congdon, 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Ocala, Florida of cardiac arrest. The last 5 years he was also battling cancer.

Bob was born on January 19, 1936 in Milford, Connecticut. There he became an avid fisherman under the guidance of his father Bob and his grandfather Edward. The three would spend hours on Long Island Sound chasing and sometimes even catching fish.

He graduated from Milford High School in 1954. While there he was a member of the golf team, a sport that became another one of his passions for the rest of his life. After graduating, Bob joined the Air Force, serving in England and Okinawa, earning the rank of Airman 1st Class.

Upon his return from the Air Force, Bob settled back in Milford and started a long career with the Connecticut Light Power Company in Devon, spending over 35 years there as an electrician. Bob was also very active in the Milford Elks Club and was honored as Elk of the Year.

After retiring from CL, Bob and Cindy retired to Ocala, Florida. There he pursued his passion for golf on an everyday basis, using his smooth classic swing to lower his handicap into the single digits and making a number of close friends.

Bob’s ashes will be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A reception in his honor is being planned for this summer in Milford.
