Obituary: Richard “Dick” Hosking, 77, of Milford

Richard “Dick” Hosking, age 77, beloved husband of Judy Woodmansee Hosking and longtime resident of Milford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on July 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Alene Shaw Hosking.

Dick served with pride and honor in the United States Navy. Throughout his extensive working career Dick was President of Hosking Associates and then became Director of Operations for Milford Landing until his retirement at which point he remained gainfully employed by Orange Hills Country Club.

He was an active member of many professional organizations including being a lifetime member of the CT Golf Course Superintendents Association, the CT Marine Trade Association, Past Chairman of the Milford Harbor Management Commission, the Milford Rotary Club, the Milford Club and the Republican Town Committee. Dick was also a member of the Ansantawae Lodge No. 89, A.F. & A.M and Jolly Mariners Square Club.

In addition to his wife Judy of 43 years, he is survived by his four children Peter Hosking of Wallingford, Carrie Gettings and her husband Steven of Milford, Brian LaMorte of Woodbridge and Tracey LaMorte of Milford; six grandchildren Jordan, Megan, David, Kendall, Joe and Evan; his brother-in-law Dave Woodmansee and his wife Bev and his loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 1st at 11:00 am at the Cody-White Funeral Home. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, July 31st from 4 to 8 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 752517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
