Obituary: Phillip Hamel, 79, longtime Milford resident

Phillip Hamel, age 79, Beloved husband of Louise Surrette Hamel and longtime resident of Milford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Milford Hospital.

Born on February 13, 1934 in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late George E. and Marguerite Budar Hamel.

Phillip’s greatest pride and joy was the love for his family; especially the love of his life, his wife Louise.

Phillip was the former owner of Hamel Typesetting. He also greatly enjoyed sailing, as well as camping in his RV as a member of the Wepawaug Sams Camping Club.

Phillip was a great man who will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him.

In addition to his loving wife Louise, Phillip is survived by his daughter Mary Louise Szychulski & husband Thomas; grandchildren Phillip Cahill & fiancé Elisa, Kristen Forde & husband Will, Tom Szychulski & wife Amanda; great-grandchildren Ashley Novak, Ryan Boothroyd Cahill, Lauren & Riley Jackman.

Phillip was predeceased by his son, Phillip S. Hamel

Friends and family may call on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. A sharing of memories will take place at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private.
