Obituary: Michael David Witt, 46, of Trumbull
Michael David Witt, age 46, of Trumbull, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in St. Vincent’s Hospital with his loving family by his side after a short but courageous battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
He was born on May 24, 1966 and grew up in Trumbull.
He was a graduate of Trumbull High and earned a degree in Business from Elon University in North Carolina where he was on the Dean’s List.
Michael was exceptional at math and finance and enjoyed working independently in the field of investments. He was a loving and proud uncle, devoted son and beloved brother.
He had a large music collection and special love for British comedies, and a fan of C.S. Lewis and Charles Dickens. He enjoyed taking walks, working on the computer, reading the Bible, playing music on exceptional stereo equipment and spending time with family or talking to his niece and nephews.
Michael was preceeded in death by his dear mother Mary Ann Witt and older brother Frank K. Witt, grandfather Frank H. Witt Sr., grandmother Agnes Peterman, great aunts Theresa Golaszewski and Josephine Sachs.
He is survived by his father, Frank H. Witt of Trumbull; sister, Sharon Evans and husband Matt Evans of Carlsbad, CA; uncles Ron Witt of Gaylordsville and Edward Witt of Stratford and aunt Barbara Tonkin of Florida; nephews, Caleb Evans and Frank Joseph Witt and niece Hannah Evans of California; cousins Bonny Stowers, Barbara DeLuca and Roger Tonkin of Florida, Ron Witt of Sherman; George Tonkin of New York; Ed Tonkin of California; Kim and Fred Tonkin of Massachusetts; also Donna Mazzucco of Stratford, Loretta Butka of Milford; and other family.
He will be deeply missed by his family as they long to be reunited with him in heaven. “He fought the good fight and finished the race and kept the faith. Now there is a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge has awarded to him on that day and not only him, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”
His family wishes to thank all of the medical staff, nurses and others who gave Michael excellent care and made every effort to help him get well.
Friends may greet the family on Friday, April 12 from 4-7 in the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, April 13 at 9:00 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, 435 Anton Street in Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment immediately following the mass at St. Thomas Cemetery in Fairfield.
