Obituary: Margaret "Peggy" B. Sicilian, 92, of Milford

Margaret (Peggy) B. Sicilian, age 92, of Milford, beloved wife to the late Joseph Michael Sicilian, Sr. died at home on May 13, 2013.

Peggy was born on November 24, 1920 in Bridgeport, the 11th of 12 children of Fred and Mary Shanley Boynton. In February, 1952 she moved with her husband Joe and 2 small children to Old Field Acres in Milford where she resided until her death.

Peggy was a graduate of St Vincent’s School of Nursing and was a visiting nurse for the Bridgeport VNA for one year and then worked at St. Vincent’s Labor and Delivery for three years until her marriage in 1947.

Peggy is survived by her brother Pete Boynton of Beaufort, NC. and her best friend of 75 years Marion Lindsley of Monroe. She will be deeply missed by her five children and their spouses: Joe and Shirley Sicilian of Lawrence, Kansas; Catherine Sicilian of Milford, CT and Portland OR; Anne Sicilian and Scott Matthies of Chaplin, CT; Jim and Carol Sicilian of West Hartford, CT; Paul and Nancy Sicilian of Walker, MI. Peggy adored her eleven grandchildren: Joe, Greg, David and Martin Sicilian; Ben and Maria Matthies; Paul, Mark, and Chris Sicilian; and Tommy and Margaret Sicilian. She was always grateful for the loving care of her niece and goddaughter Marilyn Powers. She is survived by a multitude of other nieces and nephews of both the Boynton and Sicilian families.

In addition to her devoted husband of 45 years, Joe, she was also predeceased by her brothers and their spouses Bob and Dorothy, Bill and Margaret, Hank and Eleanor, Tom and Mary, Fred and Elsie, and Jim and Eunice Boynton, her sisters Catherine Boynton and Mary Noble(Bill and Ev) and Betty LaLiberte(Tommy and Emil) by her brothers-in-law and their wives John and Phyllis Sicilian, Mike and Mildred Sicilian and Louis and Betty Sicilian and sisters-in-law Eleanor Sicilian, Florence Meyer and her husband Ed, and Bea Boynton, wife of Pete.

Peggy was able to have her wish to be at home in her last years due to the loving care of her special caretakers; JoAnne, Sheila, Yvonne, Lorna, Linda, Carrie, and Debbie and the care and support of all of her children. She was especially blessed by the extraordinary care and attention of her devoted daughter, Catherine.

Her family is grateful for the care she received from staffs at Milford Hospital, Golden Hill Health Care Center, the Milford Fire Department, Home Care Plus, VNS of Trumbull and Dr. Zarcu-Power. Peggy wants all to know that she was Happy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 20th at 10:30 am (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH) at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT 06460. Committal to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 19th from 2 to 5 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
