Obituary: John Bernard Donovan, 80, longtime resident of Milford
Born on February 20, 1933, in New York, NY, he was the son of the late John and Evelyn O’Reilly Donovan.
Prior to his retirement, John was an import/export manager for Pitney Bowes.
He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially being “Poppy” to his fourteen grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Eileen of 56 years, he is survived by his children, Michael (Karen) Donovan, Daniel (Catherine) Donovan, Susan (Gerald) O’Sullivan and Jeanne (Darin) Porter; his cherished grandchildren, Erin, Brian and Lynn Donovan; Flynn, Cassie and Cormac Donovan; Christopher, Ryan, Jennifer and Amy O’Sullivan ; and Channing, Grace, Audrey and Justin Porter. He is also survived by his siblings, William and Vincent Donovan, Evelyn Lynch, Geraldine Herrity, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 20th at 12:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT 06460. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Sunday, May 19th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
