Obituary: Ida Brennan, 89, longtime resident of Milford

Ida Brennan, age 89, longtime resident of Milford and beloved wife to the late Arthur R. Brennan passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Bishop Wicke HCC in Shelton.

Born in Bridgeport on December 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Laura Wright Gellatly.

Prior to her retirement, Ida was a dedicated nurse at the Hospital of St. Raphael’s in New Haven.

She loved animals, riding horses and bird watching. She was a very active volunteer at the Audubon Society and school libraries. She enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with her family.

She is remembered for her quiet loveliness, smile, laughter and beautiful voice.

She is survived by her children, Richard Brennan (Nancy) of Hamden, Daniel Brennan of E. Haven, Loretta Boss (Kyle), Barbara Haberman (Howard) and Susan Walkley (Timothy) all of Milford, John Brennan (Debbie) of Wallingford, James Brennan of OH and Alice Cuevas (Tony) of Milford. Also her cherished grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Kelly, Katie, Corianne, Amanda, Timmy, Arty, Billy and Samantha; great grandchildren, Ava, Joey, Mackenzie, Alexandria, Molly, Niamh, Jacob and Lynnie. She is also survived by her brothers, Charles “Buddy” Gellatly (Angie) and William Gellatly (Sandra); sisters -in-law, Yvette Gellatly and Ciel Fennell.

In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was predeceased by her son, Arthur “Corky” Brennan, Jr., and brothers John “Bob” Gellatly, Raymond “Puchie” Gellatly, Daniel Gellatly and sisters Marjorie Emerian and Etta Gourley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 9:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Interment to follow at King’s Highway Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Friday, April 26th from 4 to 8:00 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Wicke Health Center/UMH General Fund/Public Relations, 580 Long Hill Rd. Shelton, CT 06484.
