Grace Elizabeth (Fladd) Kahle died peacefully on February 27th 2016 at the home of her son Roger Kahle in Saxtons River, Vermont where she had been residing for the last 2.8 years.

She was born in Devon, Ct. on August 1st, 1921, the daughter of the late Walter E. Fladd and Della S. Miner Fladd.

After graduating from Milford High School class of 1938, she went to a year of college at Bridgeport University subsequently becoming a bookkeeper. After working for various businesses over a number of years she settled into a permanent position at the famous shipyard of ‘Fladd and Kahle’s Marine’ [har].

Grace met her husband, Wilson J. Kahle, through her brothers, especially Ralph whom Wilson was to go into a life long partnership with at Fladd and Kahle’s Marine. When Wilson passed away, on February 28th, 2010, they were just shy of their 67th anniversary.

Grace was an avid church goer and active social member from a very young age at the United Church of Christ in Devon, 30 Ormond St. [Her father being a deacon]. She and her husband Wilson along with other friends who attended the church formed the social group called the ‘Coed’s’, a lifelong endeavor. She also was a choir member for more years than I have fingers and toes combined to count. [har again].

In 1945 she had her first child, Suzanne E. Kahle, and in 1947 a son, Roger J. Kahle. The family resided on Edgemont Road in River Cliff, Devon.

Grace is survived by her children, Suzanne and Roger; four grandchildren, Kiva Sutton, Terra Sutton, Manon Kahle and Ross Kahle and Lilly Sutton her great grandchild and her sister Winifred Hamilton.

There will be a memorial service [with some of her poetry to be read] at the United Church of Christ in Devon, 30 Ormand St. [in Devon] on Sunday, August 21st, at noon with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
