Obituary: Elsie Elizabeth (DeRosa) Toomey, 98, of Milford
Born in New York City on August 16, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosina (Viterbo) DeRosa.
She attended Blessed Sacrament Grammar School, and then Warren Harding High School where she was secretary of the senior class and won the scholarship-leadership award. She was employed at the Bridgeport Board of Recreation, and at Remington Arms during WWII. During the summers she worked at Pleasure Beach Amusement Park. She married after WWII and settled in Milford, where she was a lifelong resident
She enjoyed her monthly Bridgeclub evenings with friends. Most of all, her family was the focus of her life, getting together with her sisters and brothers and their families through the years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include: a son, John A. Toomey of Milford, and wife Paula DiGiacomo-Toomey, a daughter, Rosemary Lee and husband Brian of Lakewood, NJ, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Allison and Darren, and eight great-grandchildren.
We will miss her love, kindness, laughter, and her sweet smile.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 13th, from 4:00-7:00 PM in The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 9:30AM DIRECTLY in St Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford, CT. Interment will be private.
