Doris B. Williams, 99, passed away in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on January 27, 2013.

Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of Milford CT. until she relocated to Murrells Inlet S.C. in 2006 to be with her family.

Born in Meriden CT on July 22, 1913 to Martin and Bessie Walsh, she moved with her family to the Walnut Beach area of Milford at an early age.

Doris married the late Ellsworth Williams during World War II and moved to Green Street in Milford where she resided until her relocation to South Carolina in 2006.

Doris was a longtime employee of Michaels Jewelers in Milford and did not retire until the age of 83. Along with her husband and brother, Henry Walsh, Doris owned and operated Walsh’s book store in downtown Milford for many years. Prior to leaving Milford, Doris donated a large collection of her brother’s historical post cards of Milford to the Milford Public Library where they are now archived for display.

In 2012, she received a proclamation from Myrtle Beach mayor John Rhodes upon her 99th birthday celebrating her long and happy life. She received this proclamation at a surprise birthday party. Doris often marveled at the huge technology evolution she witnessed during her nearly 100 years.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her nephew and niece Richard and Jane Kokel of South Carolina and three other nieces who live in North Carolina and Florida.

She was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth, one brother and four sisters.

A burial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Buckingham Ave, in Milford Conn. on April 5 at 11 AM.
