Obituary: Andrew H. Duhaime, 85, a lifelong resident of Milford

Andrew H. Duhaime, age 85, a lifelong resident of Milford, died on September 24, in Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Duhaime was born in the family home in Milford to Arthur A. and Yvonne Daveluy Duhaime.

Andy was an accomplished artist who worked mostly in water colors. He often, when traveling, would sketch memorable scenes rather than use a camera and his many sketch books hold memories of the many places he visited and of enjoyable family gatherings.

Andy graduated from Milford High School. He spent many years using his artistic talents working for Famous Artist School in Westport. For the last 40 years Andrew was a licensed real estate broker operating his own company, known as Duhaime Associates, helping countless individuals buy and sell their dream homes. Andrew graduated from Quinnipiac University and furthered his education later in life attending Lyme Academy of Fine Arts.

He was a role model to many, a friend to all, the best listener God ever created and wise counselor to many – family, friend, co-workers or casual acquaintance. Forty years ago he met his long time best friend and help mate, and together he and Martha Tynan reached out to family members and strangers alike and through their anonymous generosity granted many wishes.

In addition to Martha, only his sister Dorothy Duhaime survives him. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Yvonne Duhaime as well as four brothers; Real, Raymond, Gerard and Richard and one sister, Laurette Pond. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews and their families as well as one special great niece, Makaela N. Smith.

Calling Hours will be Sunday, September 29th, from 4:30 to 7:30PM at The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating his life, will be held in St. Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford at 11:00AM Monday, September 30th, followed by interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.

The family would be very grateful if donations be made in lieu of flowers, to the Beth-El Center, 90 New Haven Ave, Milford, the Milford Fine Arts Council, 40 Railroad Avenue, Milford, or the charity of your choice.
