Marie Evelena Pring Milne, age 96, lifelong resident of Devon and Milford, and beloved wife to the late James Andrew Milne, passed away peacefully at Masonicare in Newtown, CT on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
Born in Bridgeport on April 18, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Florence Tickey Pring.
Prior to her retirement in 1978, Marie was the secretary at the former Kay Avenue School for 22 years. She was a charter member of the Milford Hospital Auxiliary and an active member of the Milford Senior Center where she and her husband enjoyed many years of dancing together. She was also a member of the Milford Retirees Association, the Milford Chapter of the American Red Cross and the First United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, J. Douglas Milne and his wife, Joyce, of Milford, a daughter-in-law, Carol Milne, her cherished grandchildren, Debra Tashlein and her husband, Eric, and James P. Milne and his wife, Nicole, and three great grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia Tashlein, and Jeorge David (JD) Milne. She is also survived by nieces Bette Mae Smith Fritzen, Jean Nielson, and Janet VanRaaphorst, a nephew Albert Tingley and special family friends, Gail and Larry Urban.
In addition to her husband, Marie was predeceased by her son, David W. Milne.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 10 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main St., Milford, CT 06460 or to the Milford Hospital Auxiliary, 300 Seaside Ave., Milford, CT 06460.
