Leon (Dodie) Thomas Volpe, age 72, of Milford, passed away on Monday August 13, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Beatrice Vivian Hunt Volpe. Leon was born on December 21, 1939 in Bridgeport to the late Richard and Theresa Mansi Volpe.
He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam. Before retiring, he was employed as a screw machine operator for Bic Pen.
Dodie was an avid sportsman and enjoyed racquetball, bowling, baseball, camping and golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children Nicholas Barra (Tracy) of Milford, Randy (Amanda) Barra of West Haven, Dawn (Mike) Cooper of Milford, Frances (Mike) Vrabel of Naugatuck, Robert Volpe of West Haven and Susan (Don) Wyatt also of West Haven, brothers Ralph Volpe of Milford, Richard Volpe of New Haven, sisters Elaine Volpe & Esther Volpe Dimartino both of East Haven, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and his beloved dog spunky.
A wake will be held Friday August 17, 2012 from 10:00 am ~12:00 pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. Prayer Service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St Mary Cemetery Milford.
