Edward F. Caliendo

Edward F. Caliendo, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 19, 2012, in St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
He was born in Bronx, NY and was a Trumbull resident for 47 years before recently moving to Stratford.


Ed was a proud graduate of Fairfield Prep, Class of 1953, and was an All-State football player. He attended Boston College and graduated from the University of Bridgeport where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.
Ed spent his career as a Sales Executive in the machine tool industry. His career began at AMF. He then worked for Jarvis Corporation for over 20 years and then as an International Trade Executive from General Electric Corporation in New York City.
Ed and his wife Joan raised their family in Trumbull where he was an active member of the community serving on several boards including the Town of Trumbull Recreation Department and the Pinewood Lake Association. He also coached various youth sports teams in the community. He was an avid golfer and a member of Mill River Country Club for over 40 years.
Above all, the time spent with his family is what he loved the most. He was a devoted grandfather and never missed a sporting event, activity or performance.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward Caliendo and Florence (Farrell) Caliendo.
His survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years, Joan (Aurilio) and their children: Karen and her husband Patrick Corcoran of Stratford and their children Joan, Patrick and Ryan; Mary and her husband Jon Rather of Stamford and their children Jane, Jonathan, Molly, and Rose; Edward Caliendo and his wife Therese of Ridgewood, NJ and their children Casey and Anna; Amy and her husband Charles Threshie of Stratford and their children Edie and Charlie. He is also survived by his siblings: Albert Caliendo and his wife Lorraine of Granby; Mary Jane Byrnes of Milford; and Joy and James Noonan of Milford, along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday October 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd. in Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road in Trumbull.
