Donald J. Ritchie, age 85, of 129 Starview Drive, Berwick, Pa., entered into eternal life on Oct. 23, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Oronoque Road in Milford, Conn. He had relocated to Berwick, Pa. five years ago to be near his stepson and family.
Born March 7, 1927 in Stratford, Conn., he was the son of Percy and Cornelia Ritchie.
He graduated from Milford High School, class of 1945. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to Milford and joined Barnes Machine Company, eventually becoming general manager and partner, retiring in 1997.
Don was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Virginia (Wilcox) Ritchie; and a brother, Allan Ritchie of Milford.
He was a member of the Susquehanna Valley WWII veterans and enjoyed spending time at his summer residence on Loon Lake in Plymouth, N.H.
He will be remembered by his stepson, Michael F. Whalen Jr. and his wife Diane; granddaughter, Wendy Whalen Gill; grandson, Michael F. Whalen III; great-granddaughters, Kate and Jamie Gill, all of Pennsylvania; sister, Virginia Hampton; brother, Kenneth Ritchie of Milford; sister, Beverly Peterson of Newtown and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. in the family plot located in the Milford Cemetery on Gulf Street in Milford.
