Arthur Ceccarelli

On Wednesday July 11, 2012 Arthur Ceccarelli husband of Katherine Bonessi Ceccarelli passed peacefully into heaven from his home in Orange.
Born April 2, 1930, he was the son of the late Dante and Adele Ceccarelli. He grew up in West Haven and moved to Orange in 1966.


Art, a left handed pitcher, was signed to the Dodgers as a bonus player. He went on to play five years in the Major Leagues with the Kansas City Athletics, Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago Cubs. He was the only player to make the Major Leagues in the greater New Haven area at that time. His baseball career was briefly interrupted while serving in the Korean War.
During the off seasons, he attended classes at Southern CT. State University. He also was a pitching coach at the university. While coaching, Art taught at Milford High and later Foran High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Richard (Christine) Ceccarelli, sisters Lorraine (Frank) Proto, Beverly (John) Ferrie, daughter-in-law Anna Ceccarelli, grandchildren Dante, Vincent, Elizabeth and Brianna Ceccarelli, and a great grandson Caleb, along with many other loved members of the Ceccareli and Bonessi family.
Art was predeceased by children Sherri and Gregg, sister Emily Giamo, brothers Daniel and Robert, and a niece Carolyn Limosani.
A memorial mass and celebration of his life will take place SATURDAY JULY 21, at 10 o’clock at Holy Infant Church. There will be no hour for visitation and burial will be private. Donations may be made to Smilow Cancer Center, c/o Office of Development, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT. 06508.
Lastly, the Ceccarelli family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. LaSala and her wonderful nurses, the staff at Fr. McGiveney (Hoot Clinic) and all who provided loving care at home.
