Connecticut's travel advisory remains the same for the second week in a row. On Dec. 21, Gov. Ned Lamont's office announced that no states or territories were removed or added to the list of places from which visitors will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative COVID test. As of now, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Hawaii are the only exempt states.
A rule went into effect on Oct. 19 requiring people to quarantine after coming from states with both at least 10 new cases per day per 100,000 residents and a 5 percent positivity rate. Previously, travelers from states that fit either criteria were mandated to quarantine.
The state announced fines in an effort to mitigate more spikes - $100 for not wearing a mask, $500 for hosting an event exceeding the state guidelines for gatherings and $250 for attending such an event. Connecticut is also issuing $1,000 fines to travelers who fail to comply with travel guidelines. Anyone who has spent 24 hours or more in one of the locations on the list within 14 days prior to entering Connecticut is required to submit a travel health form and quarantine for 14 days. Both residents and out-of-state visitors are subject to the penalty if they plan to be in Connecticut for 24 hours or more.
