The Milford PTA Council invites the public to the Board of Education Candidates Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Joseph A. Foran High School auditorium. The event will run from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be moderated by local radio personality Brian Smith.
The candidates forum is designed to give attendees the opportunity to learn how the candidates feel about various educational issues affecting Milford and beyond, according to the PTA Council.
Each candidate will give a brief introductory statement at the beginning of the forum. From there, pairs of candidates – one from each party – will be asked the same question that is drawn from a hat. Each candidate will have two minutes to answer the question.
A candidate reference booklet is distributed at the event as well. The booklet includes the responses collected from each candidate to a few broad-based questions relating to his/her background and personal point of view on educational topics.
Council President Carol Thomas said she is pleased with the response the forum has had in the past and expects a great turnout again this year.
“For more than a decade, the Milford PTA Council has coordinated this forum as a way for all Milford voters to learn more about the Board of Ed candidates just prior to the election,” Thomas said. “We are pleased to continue to organize and sponsor this event and hope the members of the public join us for this interesting program. All are welcome.”
