Claire Casey expected to fill Fucci's seat on school board

Claire Casey is expected to be nominated to fill the unexpired term of former Board of Education Majority Leader Laura Fucci (D-5).

Fucci resigned in January after GOP criticism that she had moved out of the Fifth District, which she represented.

Fucci said she hadn’t finished moving yet, but resigned anyway to avoid conflict over a school budget vote. She said she had planned to resign when she finished moving.

Democratic Town Committee Chairman Rich Smith said Casey’s name will be presented to the full board at its next regular meeting

“Claire is simply one of the hardest working, conscientious and capable people I know,” Smith said. “The people of Milford are very fortunate to have someone of Claire's ability and dedication willing to serve on our Board of Education.”

Board member Robert Satti Jr. (D-3) was named majority leader in Fucci’s place during a January board meeting.
