Brian Boyd earns Eagle Award

Brian Boyd was honored as an Eagle Scout, the highest advancement award recognized by the Boy Scouts of America. He passed his board of review on Dec. 19, 2012.

Family, friends and fellow Scouts attended an Eagle Court of Honor for Brian at the Hilton Garden Inn in Milford on June 29.

Guests included Mayor Benjamin Blake, former State Rep. Richard Roy, Scout executives as well as other dignitaries.

Mayor Blake delivered a proclamation recognizing Brian as an Eagle Scout.

Special congratulatory citations were presented from Dr. Henry Lee, who was unable to attend, the National Eagle Scout Association, and the Sons of the American Revolution.

Brian received a congratulatory letter from His Holiness, Pope Francis. He also received congratulatory messages from President and Mrs. Barack Obama, and former presidents, George Bush and James Carter, Senator Richard Blumenthal, and Congresswoman Rosa DeLaura.

Brian is a member of the Order of the Arrow, the Boy Scout Honor Society.

He is also a member of the Boy Scouts Connecticut Yankee Council's Youth Executive Board and holds the position of vice chief.
