Yankee legend to headline St. V's SWIM Across the Sound sports gala

St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound will host its annual Sports Gala and Auction benefitting Connecticut police, fire, and correction officers, EMS personnel, public safety dispatchers, and their families battling cancer. Legendary New York Yankee Bucky Dent will be the guest speaker at the event, on Feb. 4, at Anthony's Ocean View, New Haven. Silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner with cash bar at 7 p.m.

"Bucky" Dent is a former American Major League Baseball player and manager who earned two World Series rings as the starting shortstop for the New York Yankees in 1977 and 1978. He was voted the World Series MVP in 1978 and is most famous for his home run in a tie-breaker game against the Boston Red Sox at the end of the 1978 season.

All donations will be used to fund programs to support first responders throughout Connecticut.

Ticket donations are $100 each. Table hosts (10 seats) are available for $1,000.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut is the title sponsor of this event.
