Ice fishing gala canceled

Warm temperatures and the subsequent lack of safe ice has forced organizers to cancel the second annual Fishing CT Ice Fishing Gala, which had been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27.

All who have paid will be refunded by March 5, according to organizers.

Volunteers will be at Bantam Lake in Morris on the scheduled day of the event in case anyone misses cancellation notices

About Fishing Northeast is a website created by Scott Garland, the founder of Facebook fishing groups Fishing CT, Fishing RI, Fishing MA, Fishing NY, Fishing NH, Fishing VT and Fishing ME. Now a parent of two boys and less time to be on the water, Scott created Fishing CT as a means to stay connected to the fishing world, using the stories and photos to continue enjoying his love for fishing. As Fishing CT grew there was a call among members from other states to have similar groups so Scott created the other groups and eventually the website to bring the northeast fishing community and businesses together in one place. Fishing CT has been featured on FoxCT61 news for helping find a stolen boat. They also stay in touch with Connecticut DEEP on a regular basis, keeping up with changing regulations as well as current news events throughout the fisheries in the State of Connecticut. As these other groups grow to the numbers of Fishing CT (currently 8,313 members and growing daily) we will be involved with each state’s Department of Fish and Games.
