Milford police have made two arrests in connection with car break-ins that started in October.
Police said there was an increase in motor vehicle burglaries that occurred in restaurant parking lots within the city starting in October.
“During these burglaries, it was noted that a specific style was used by the suspects,” police said in a news release. “These incidents occurred during the nighttime hours and, specifically, targeted commercial parking lots where entry was gained by prying the vehicle windows until the window breaks.”
After an extensive investigation, warrants were applied for and detectives arrested Jimmie Bennett, 51, of 21 Pearl Harbor Place, Bridgeport and Alphonso Thompson, 53, of 153 Shell Street, Bridgeport in connection with numerous burglaries in Milford.
Detectives recovered stolen property that was reported stolen by the victims and some property that is believed to be from unreported car burglaries.
Bennett was charged with illegal use of a credit card, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card, and larceny.
Thompson was charged with illegal use of a credit card, credit card theft, and larceny.
Bennett was held on a $5,000 bond to appear in Milford Court on Jan. 22. Thompson was released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 12.
