No one was injured in a fire Monday at 71 Jepson Drive, a public housing complex near the Milford Senior Center.
On Monday at 1 p.m., the Milford Fire Department received a 911 call reporting smoke coming from a second floor window at the complex.
“Arriving fire apparatus quickly deployed a fire attack line to the second floor of this six-unit public housing building,” said Fire Department Spokesman Greg Carman.
The fire was found in a rear bedroom and immediately extinguished. The unit occupants were away at the time of the fire and the other occupants of the building had evacuated upon hearing the fire alarm, Carman said.
There was extensive damage to the bedroom and smoke and heat damage to the rest of the unit. Some of the other units of the building also sustained some minor smoke damage.
There were no injuries reported to any of the occupants of the building or to the firefighters. The last fire department unit had cleared the scene by 3 p.m.
The Milford Fire Marshal’s office is investigating for the cause.
