Three arrests have been made in the past several days in connection with a stabbing on Lafayette Street June 3.
It was early in the morning June 3 when police responded to the normally quiet downtown street in response to reports of a stabbing. At the time, police reported that two people received minor stab wounds during the altercation.
On June 19, Melissa Meahan, 20, of 35 Wiley Avenue, was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear in court June 20 in connection with the case.
A day earlier, on June 18, the young woman’s father, Michael Meahan, 49, of 35 Wiley Avenue, was charged with breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court July 15.
On June 17, Gustave Meyers, 21, of 31 Lafayette Street Unit 2, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct, and was scheduled for court June 18.
Meyers had been arrested earlier in connection with the altercation in Milford, which escalated at about 1:30 a.m. June 3. At that time, Meyers was charged with assault and breach of peace. He has since been released from police custody on $75,000 bond.
Police spokesman Jeff Nielsen said the recent arrests stem from an altercation between Meyers and his girlfriend, which was followed by the 1:30 a.m. brawl between Meyers and the young woman’s father. Michael Meahan reportedly showed up at the house where Meyers lives, and the two got into an altercation that involved a knife. Meahan suffered minor stab wounds, which police said required medical attention.
According to the Connecticut Post, Meyers plans to plead not-guilty to stabbing Michael Meahan.
Meyers is also facing charges due to earlier arrests on drug and alcohol charges, to which he has entered pleas of not guilty, according to court records.
