Man charged with taking almost $500 in groceries from Stop & Shop

A man who allegedly took $478 worth of groceries from Stop & Shop without paying for them in 2013 was arrested on a warrant this week and charged with larceny.
Police said that on Sept. 7, 2013, they got a complaint about a shoplifting at Stop & Shop on East Town Road. They investigated and determined it was Jerome Uva, 54, of New Haven, who had walked out without paying for his groceries.
Uva was released from police custody on his promise to appear in court April 21.
