Man charged with fighting police outside restaurant

A Tolland man was arrested May 28 for allegedly fighting with police officers after being kicked out of a downtown restaurant.

Police said Kyle Romitti, 27, was at a Daniel Street restaurant when he reportedly became unruly about 1:30 a.m. and was told to leave. Police encountered him outside the restaurant, where he allegedly tried to punch a police officer, nearly hitting the officer in the face.

He was taken into custody and charged with breach of peace, interfering with police, resisting arrest and criminal attempt at assaulting a police officer.

Bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court June 20.
