Woman charged with cruelty to animals: Allegedly left 5 pets at vacant house

Milford police have charged a woman with cruelty to animals for allegedly leaving five animals behind when she abandoned a house on Mayflower Place. Police said two of the dogs found in the house had to be euthanized because they were in poor health.

According to a police report, on July 27, the Milford Police Department received a complaint of possible cruelty to animals due to a house being abandoned at 92 Mayflower Place.

An investigation led to the arrest of Temisa Fossett, 45, of 174 Ward Street, Naugatuck.

Fossett was charged with five counts of cruelty to animals. She was released from police custody on her promise to appear in court Sept. 6.
