(UPDATED) Arrest made in assault with baseball bat on Bridgeport Ave.
On Thursday, Dec. 17 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Shelton Police were sent to the area of 830 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton to investigate an assault.
The scene was secured by 1 police unit before leaving at around 1:30 p.m. The officer declined to comment.
Shelton police haven’t confirmed the condition of the victim, but one officer said the victim has been taken to St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport.
“The information I have is the victim is not deceased,” said Capt. Robert Kozlowsky in an email.
No one in a the neighboring TD Bank, Chili’s restaurant, or Hyatt House Hotel offered any information.
Police are currently investigating this incident and a press release will be forthcoming when more details are available.
UPDATED at 3:51 p.m
At approximately 9 A.M., the Shelton Police Department received numerous 911 calls regarding a man beating another man with a bat in the parking lot of the Hyatt House Hotel, located on Bridgeport Ave.
Shelton Patrol Officers and Detectives responded and upon arrival they discovered a bloodied man lying on the ground. A woman on scene informed officers that her husband, Chadwick Adams was responsible for assault and he fled the scene in a Mercury Marquis.
The incident was broadcast on the State Police hotline and approximately 15 minutes later Adams was stopped on the Merritt Parkway by the State Police.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Adams followed his wife to Shelton from New Jersey. Once at the hotel in Shelton, Adams confronted her regarding an ongoing domestic dispute. An argument ensued between Adams and the man accompanying his wife resulting in Adams striking him several times with a baseball bat. The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Adams wife was not injured during the incident.
Chadwick Adams, DOB Dec. 9 1987 of Pleasantville NJ, was arrested and charged with Assault 1 and Criminal Mischief 4 appear in Derby Superior court on 12/18/2015. st, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Endangerment 1st, Breach of peace 2nd, and Criminal Mischief 4th . Adams is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
