Trumbull man charged with stealing boat from Milford marina
Police have arrested a Trumbull man on a warrant for allegedly stealing a boat from a local marina last April.
On April 2, 2015, the Milford Police Department received a larceny complaint regarding a 2002 Maxum 2900SE boat valued at approximately $30,000 having being stolen off the property of Village Marina, 40 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford.
Police investigators determined that Christopher Fiore, 24, of 9 Pine Street, Trumbull, fraudulently took ownership of the boat. Fiore owned and operated Titan Marine Group, LLC, which was at the time operating out of 40 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. He was able to fraudulently take ownership of the 2002 Maxum 2900SE boat through the state Department of Motor Vehicles after alleging the vessel was abandoned on his marina’s property, police said.
According to a police press release, Fiore was able to remove the registered owner’s name after filling out paperwork with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which then allowed him to take possession of the vessel and then sell it to an unknown party.
Fiore is charged with larceny, forgery and conspiracy to commit larceny.
He was taken into custody Aug. 18 and released on a $5,000 bond for a Sept. 13 court date in MIlford.
