Teen strikes man who stole purse from car

Police are looking for a man who stole a purse out of a car parked at Dunkin Donuts on New Haven Avenue Dec. 21 and fled from the scene after a teenager sitting in the car hit him.

Police said a woman parked her car at Dunkin Donuts on New Haven Avenue at 7 a.m. and ran inside, leaving her 13-year-old daughter sitting in the back seat.

A man entered the car and took a purse from the front seat, police said. The man grabbed the daughter by the arm, and she hit him, at which time the man ran away with the purse.

The suspect left in a  silver mini van last seen traveling eastbound on New Haven Avenue. The victim was not injured during the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man in his twenties, bald, with several tattoos on his head, and a thin build. He was wearing black clothing at the time.
