Teen charged with lying to police after drug deal goes bad
A Milford teen was charged with lying to police after a drug deal went bad, according to a police report.
Police said that on Jan. 5 Joseph Kliff, 18, of Edgefield Avenue called the police department and reported that he was robbed at gunpoint at Red Bush Field in Milford.
Kliff reportedly told police that he was robbed of $240 while attempting to make a drug transaction.
Police investigated and said they found that Kliff had actually given a friend $240 to buy marijuana for him in Bridgeport. The friend in turn had the money taken from him while in Bridgeport and was unable to return with the marijuana, police said.
“Kliff did not believe the friend had the money taken without the purchase being made, and created a story in which he was robbed at gunpoint in an attempt to get his $240 back by using the police,” states a police press release.
Kliff is charged with making a false statement and was released from police custody on a promise to appear court on Feb. 2.
