Residents may apply for ‘citizens academy’
The Milford Police Department will begin its seventh session of the Citizens Police Academy on Jan. 8, ending with a graduation ceremony on April 2.
The academy is a 12-week program in which participants attend a session of 2.5 hours each week, learning about the Milford Police Department and the equipment used by the officers.
Participants will be introduced to a variety of topics, including CPR, firearm safety, computer crimes, police K9 teams and will have an opportunity to ride along with an on-duty police officer.
The Citizens Academy is open to residents, property or business owners within the city of Milford who are 21 years of age or older. The last day for applications to be accepted will be Friday, Nov. 30.
