The Milford Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 21, at the rear area of 10 and 16 Broadway, adjacent to Naugatuck Avenue.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two youths had entered the property through a common driveway off Naugatuck Avenue near the beach just prior to noon. While on the property it is believed that the youths were removing items from recycling receptacles when an adult resident observed them on the property.

An alleged disturbance occurred between the youths and the adult male, resulting in a second adult resident becoming involved, police said.

The second man left the immediate area and called 911 when he suffered a medical condition. The second adult man was treated on scene and later transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police are investigating the incident and are gathering information from area residents, businesses and visitors to the area. The time frame investigators are looking into is between 11:30 and 12:30 p.m. A city wide mass notification message requesting assistance will be sent to area residents and businesses through the Milford Alerts System.
