The Milford Police Department is investigating two incidents involving suspicious encounters on the east side of Milford.

The first incident occurred on Beach Avenue and involved a man in a vehicle making an inappropriate gesture to a group of teenage girls, police said.

The second incident happened on Baxter Lane and involved a man in a vehicle motioning to a child to come toward his vehicle. During both incidents, witnesses saw a light blue four door car operated by a white man with darker hair and possibly facial hair, police said.

Police have increased their patrols in these areas and school personnel are aware of the incidents.

“In light of these types of suspicious encounters adults are reminded to speak with children, encouraging them to immediately report to a trusted adult anything that feels suspicious or uncomfortable,” said Police Spokesman Joseph Dempsey.
