Milford police are investigating an accident over the weekend that involved a Milford police cruiser and another vehicle.

According to local officials, on Sunday Nov. 5, at approximately 1:23 a.m. an on-duty Milford police officer was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of the Boston Post Road and High Street.  

The officer was responding with lights and siren activated enroute to assist Milford and Bridgeport officers with the apprehension of several armed suspects in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and Schoolhouse Lane when the accident occurred, police said.

Both the Milford cruiser and the other vehicle involved in the accident sustained heavy damage.  The officer was treated and released from Yale New Haven Hospital for the injuries sustained in the accident.

Both occupants of the other vehicle were also transported to Yale for their injuries. The driver was evaluated and released while the passenger was admitted for possible upper torso injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Milford Police Department Traffic Division.
