Orange man faces murder charges after altercation on highway

A 33-year-old man from Orange is facing charges including criminal attempt to commit murder after an alleged road rage incident on June 25.
On Thursday, at approximately 9 p.m. Troopers from Troop G – Bridgeport received a report of a road rage incident on I-95 northbound in the area of exit 41.
Troopers responded and initiated an investigation. It was determined by Troopers that two vehicles, a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer, were northbound on I-95 in the area of Exit 40 when they became involved in a road rage incident.
State Police said the passenger vehicle exited the highway at Exit 41, while the tractor trailer pulled over to the right shoulder on I-95. The driver of the trailer exited the truck and ran up to the driver’s side of the passenger vehicle while it was stopped for the traffic signal at the end of the ramp.
It was later discovered that the driver of the tractor trailer was Jesus Izaguirre, 39, of Bougainvillea Street, Hildalgo, Texas, and the vehicle operator was Juan Calderon of New England Lane, Orange.
Shots fired
Izaguirre allegedly struck Calderon with an unknown object, causing a laceration to his face. As Izaguirre tried to return to the truck, police said Calderon exited his vehicle and chased Izaguirre operator, while withdrawing a 9mm semi-automatic pistol (for which he had a valid pistol permit) and fired several rounds, striking Izaguirre.
Izaguirre returned to the truck, left the scene and continued driving I-95 northbound before coming to a stop in the area of exit 44 where he was located by Troopers.
Both male operators were transported to Yale – New Haven Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Western District Major Crime (WDMC) Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Detectives processed the scene and collected evidence.
