Mom allegedly kicked coach in the groin
A West Haven parent was arrested at a basketball game at Foran High School Jan. 10 after allegedly kicking a visiting coach in the groin.
Police said Tara Severino, 52, of Ocean Ave., West Haven, struck a male basketball coach in the groin because she wasn’t pleased with something the coach did earlier in the day.
Sources say it wasn’t a local basketball coach who was attacked, but rather a man who coaches younger girls on a travel team. His team attended the Foran vs. West Haven basketball game to watch the older students play, and while there in the audience, one of the girl’s mothers, annoyed at something the coach had said earlier, confronted him and kicked him.
The incident happened just before 7 p.m.
Severino was charged with assault and breach of peace. She was released from police custody on her promise to appear in court Feb. 6.
